Pace Your Race
Pace Your Race is a high-profile ASICS service and system to provide runners with personalized pace bands to wear at races. Runners register via a dedicated website or at the event itself, enter their pace details and receive a custom-printed wristband (paceband) with race split times that they can wear during the race. This service has proven to be very popular with Runners, as demonstrated at the 2015 Paris Marathon where over 20,000 runners received a pace band.
The old system at race booths was not self-service, processing all registrants took a long time, which resulted in long queues and lower customer satisfaction. There was no easy way to quickly look up registrants due to the low performance of the system. On-site setup was quite difficult, frequently requiring the system developers to be flown in at high cost.
QOR 3, Swift (iPad booth app), React.js, PostgreSQL, VirtualBox (for easy deployment of the booth server), CUPS, automatic device discovery & classification (own development written in Go)
Quick and easy login at the booth via QR codes. The codes are sent to the user after registration, or can be displayed from the Pace Your Race dashboard.
Registrants get a map with split times to share with supporters, friends & family either via twitter, facebook & Google + or for printing out at the ASICS booth.
The organisers at the booth are guided through the setup process for hardware, server and booth kiosks step-by-step with easy to understand instructions.
To keep track of how many people are still expected to sign in at the booth and how far you got, the Pace Your Race system provides useful stats on the server’s dashboard.
Booth at races often have to be operated without connection to the Internet, so after the race any new sign ups can be synched easily to the live website, to ensure consistency.
